After a lot of time and effort the Ballyshannon town clock was restored to full working order on 15th November 2019. Congratulations to all involved for bringing this iconic landmark back to life.

On a stormy January evening in 2013 emergency services were called to investigate reports that the face of Ballyshannon's Town Clock was damaged and in danger of falling to the street below. The town was closed to traffic for a couple of days and the clock's south face was removed. It's future uncertain. Many, probably everybody, would like to see the clock replaced. It is indeed the iconic image of Ballyshannon. To see it repaired would not only be a great visual improvement but also a great morale boost to our town. To have it in working order would be a symbolic boost and get the "heartbeat of Ballyshannon" ticking once more.
Community members of the Ballyshannon area have come together to raise funds to Save Our Clock and the efforts are being assisted by Ballyshannon Regeneration Group. A number of specialist clock makers have already been to assess and price the job. The will is there, the expertise is available. All we need is the money!
We have organised a fantastic prize draw to help raise funds. See the great prizes listed below. Just €5 for three lines or a full card (30 lines) for €40. Earlier this year, through donation cards we collected €2,400 and our Rory Gallagher Festival Friends donated just over €700 at a gig during this year's festival. Our target for this project is €20,000. Our aim is to replace the south face, Get both sides of the clock working again. (and while the crane access is on site to have it inspected by the conservation architect, to remove the weed growth and re-point the stone in the affected areas.)
This issue has been discussed on street corners, around kitchen tables and various meeting rooms for a long time and some progress has been made along the way in relation to the clock and the entire building. A conservation report and feasibility study is almost complete on the building with funding sourced by Erne Enterprise. The fixing of the clock face and mechanism would work as a stand alone project alongside any other plans there may be.

The Paupers' Graveyard official opening, Tuesday 22nd August 2017 at 7pm. The culmination of a lot of hard work, the entrance and pathway to this historical site has been cleared and improved making it accessible to the general public.

The 65th Ballyshannon Drama Festival will run from March 11th to March 19th, 2017. The programme has been finalised with details available at www.ballyshannondrama.com The Festival will showcase plays produced by various drama groups from around the country.

The Famine Graveyard restoration project moved a lot closer towards completion when during the month of August 2016, the BRG community volunteers created a pathway to the graveyard from Bishop Street. Check the Famine Graveyard page for further details of this project
Operation Ballyshannon 2016 took place on Saturday, 30th April. A good turn out of volunteers, of all ages, meant a lot of work was done, and at the end of the day the town looked a lot better for it.
